Abstract
Today kindergartens are more than ever concerned about the integrating the requirements for children’ effective learning in designing the layout. Researches claim that preschoolers are in a constant learning and their learning process in preschool starts the minute they enter the preschools. If design and arrangement of spaces follow the educational-based strategies of learning experiences, the messages that spaces send to teachers and children will enhance the philosophy and aim of the educational. This study has considered preschool setting as a whole entity and has focused on the intersection of pedagogy, design and users with the intentionof expanding the understanding about early childhood spaces. Since every single part of the preschool setting plays a role in children’s development and learning process, in this study we have classified children’s experiences in preschool setting as arrival and departure, learning stations, common and private spaces and features that are worth considering in relation with the condition of preschool settings. Theoretical framework established in this research create a guideline for designers to learn about the main requirements of a preschoolers and preschool pedagogy. Also this study carries a universal perception over the subject of preschool education and has discussed the common feature of preschool education adopted in most of the countries. However, it needs to be considered that preschool education in differs based on the differences in cultures, religious, economy and regional features.
