Importance of including contents related with cost analysis in interior architecture bachelor programs: a survey in Turkey, Antalya
Özet
This study has established based on the hypothesis that there is a lack of sufficient content related with cost analysis and budget management in Interior Architecture Bachelor Programs in Turkey. Based on this hypothesis, curriculum of interior architecture and interior architecture and environmental design programs in Turkey has been analyzed. The aim was determining the presence or absence of course/s that offer contents of knowledge related with budget and cost analysis. Parallel with this analysis, 50 interior architects have participated in a questionnaire survey and share their idea about the sifficinecy of interior architecture programs in terms of budget analysis. According to the responds of most of the participants, gaining knowledge and skills related with budget management is highly important for interior architecture profession, however content in Interior Architecture Bachelor Programs are not sufficient. Responds claimed that after they have been graduated they have not develop enough skills related with cost analysis skills. Consistent with these results, this study suggests that curriculum of Interior Architecture Bachelor Programs should be reconsidered and
more contents related with cost analysis and budget management should be included in these programs. This study also suggests for further research about the methodologies that interior architects are using for
managing the budget and cost and educate interior architecture students related with these these methodologies.
