Beyond being an artistic object, the sculptural element was used as a communication tool of the values belonging to societies in the character and styles appropriate to the period. Abstract values that belong to a society have been concretized through sculpture and transformed into forms that individuals can understand. Throughout the history, public space sculpture, which has been designed together with the close environment where it is located, consists of symbolic figures and monuments such as mythological, religious or important figures, that are suitable for its period in the context of the material and aesthetic standards. While this sculpture approach conveys the message of the culture and civilization behind it to large masses; It proposes compositions that take time, space, meaning and scale relationships into account. In today's cities, the sculptural element can be observed in a wide range from abstract forms and concepts to everyday objects, from monumental examples at the scale of multi-story buildings, to miniature compositions, from spectacular forms to functional urban furniture for people. However, some examples in urban landscaping that lack basic art and design principles can be subject to controversy in terms of both aesthetics and meaning. On the other hand, the aesthetic understanding of the society and the attitudes of local governments on the subject are among the factors that affect these discussions. In this study; In the context of designing urban common areas where the society lives and experiences together, it has been questioned what kind of a formation can be the sculpture that can appeal to the majority. Sculptural elements found in public spaces in Antalya province and their close environmental arrangements were evaluated according to the local people's perspective on sculpture through sculpture aesthetics, form and message. In the study, the questionnaire method consisting of participants who have and not received art education was used in order to improve the place and value of the sculpture element in the eyes of the local people; there have been suggestions on the possibilities of awareness and interaction that can be created by establishing a connection between design and art.en_US
