dc.description.abstractIn recent years, studies have been carried out for social and economic studies of mountainous regions all over the world. Some of the lands of the Eastern Black Sea Region are in mountainous areas. In this study, the socio-economic analysis of Uzungöl basin, which is located in the Eastern Black Sea Region and has tourism potential development will be examined. After considering the conditions of terrain, climate and land covers/uses in basin the socio-economic factors are evaluated for devolopment. The Uzungöl basin lacks some infrastructural facilities, such as roads, energy, education and health services. The political and administrative powers and proper funding are also lacking in these areas, therefore, there is a need to make provision of proper infrastructural facilities, health, education and skill development programs so that the individuals are able to become self-sufficient. In order to lead to the socio-economic development of this area in an effective manner, improvements are required in the key sectors and these include, population, agriculture, animal husbandry, forests, industry and mining, handcraft, roads and transport, education, and health and medical facilities. Tourism and animal husbandry potential of Uzungol basin increases. However, for the development of these two activities, it is necessary to attract population here, thus increasing the life standard of the region. Especially in the basin, highland, winter and congress tourism can be developed. In addition, winter sports and sportsman camps can be established in the region. For all these, transportation with the surrounding settlements should be strengthened, and transportation provided to the region should be safe in all seasons. Apart from these, natural gas heating system should be installed and internet access should be improved more. The education and health system in the basin is also not at the desired level.en_US
