Abstract
sürecinde yaşananlar; (2) Depremin gebeliğe etkisi; (3) Koşullarla baş etme;
Introduction: When the effects of biological and physiological differences between genders on health were examined, it was seen that men were physiologically more resistant to the physical effects of the disaster. Although it is stated that the effects of disasters on women are more impressive than on men, this situation can go beyond the disaster during pregnancy. Purpose: This research examined the pregnancy experiences and health status of pregnant women who experienced the earthquake in Kahramanmaraş. Method: The research was conducted between April 2023 and September 2023 with 21 pregnant women over 18. The study’s inclusion criteria are coming to Antalya due to the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquake, being over 18 years pregnant, and volunteering to participate in the research. Snowball sampling was used to collect data, and in-depth interviews were conducted. After the interview quotes were transcribed, main themes and sub-themes were created. To ensure reliability, two independent external coders were asked to code the themes and subthemes, and Kappa analysis was performed based on the results. Kappa analysis was found to be 0.87. After the data was analyzed, thematic content was analyzed with the Nvivo 10 program. Ethical approval was received from the Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine Clinical Research Ethics Committee to conduct the research. Results: The average age of the pregnant women was 28.48 ± 6.14, and the average gestational week was 26.42 ± 7.15. The education level of most of the pregnant women is primary school graduate (33.3%). In addition, it was determined that the majority of the participants were housewives, and this rate was found to be 57.2%. Regarding birth planning, it was observed that 66.7% of pregnant women were considering having a cesarean birth. The main themes that emerged from qualitative data analysis were (1) What happened during the earthquake, (2) The effect of the earthquake on pregnancy, (3) Coping with circumstances, (4) Anxiety about pregnancy and birth, (5) What happened in the procurement of health services; (6) They are listed as expectations from the future. Conclusion: This research revealed that the earthquake created fear in pregnant women; they experienced inadequate nutritional needs, were more affected than others due to bad weather conditions, and experienced physical, psychological, and obstetric health problems. The fact that the research was conducted in a single region and was limited to the statements of women an essential limitation of the study.
