Häfen der antike und des mittelalters als orte der repräsentation – eine einführung

Abstract

Representative aspects of harbours in the Euro-Mediterranean region have not yet been studied across disciplines and epochs. Even within the Priority Program 1630 "Harbours from the Roman Imperial Period to the Middle Ages" they were not initially the focus of interest. The present volume aims to contribute to advancing the discussion in this thematic field, using approaches and questions already present in ancient studies as starting points. The contributions are the written versions of ten lectures presented on the occasion of a workshop held at the Kurfürstlichen Scloss zu Mainz on May 28 and 29, 2015.
